Day 1: Access all areas LA, Jay Leno and our papi

Hey All,

thought i start doing this blog thing........ AGAIN! Do people still blog these days? Anyways bit of background to the blog. Few years ago a Uni mate of mine kept on talking about plans to hit the states and we finally made it happen. We will be in the states for 3 weeks hitting up LA, Coachella, New york, Las Vegas and Hawaii.

We landed in the USA safe at 6am in the morning and the process going through customs was a quick one even with the bio metrics. One we picked up our luggage (Mind you my suitcase took ages to come out and started to get worried that it got dropped off in the pacific ocean), we took the shuttle to the car rental place called fox and got the keys to our ride for the week. While we thought we would rule the driving, it took longer to adjust since they drive on the left hand side and turning right/left is different. I struggled as i kept on drifting to the right hand side hitting the bumps and grooves. Along with this driving experience we basically drove on the freeway most of the day and thanks to the GPS it helped a little but kept missing our exits.

First place we drove when we got to the car was century city which was an outdoor mall. Getting there at 9am meant all the shops didn't open til 10/11am. So we started off with some free wifi at starbucks until the shops open. Walked into H&M and wow you can look good at a low price.

After our driving around most of the freeways and adjusting to the driving, We went to NBC studios in burbank to be in the audience for the Jay Leno Show. Kai got the tickets months back and was advised by another mate Chris that it was first come first serve. We "accidentally" got to the studio lot early and we were 127 & 128 in line. It took ages to get in as they had to arrange each person in numerical order but after it all we managed to get in and there was another cue which was split between upstairs and downstairs and we got told to go downstairs not knowing why, we actually thought the reason was because we were asian but we got floor seats to the front row.

Before the show started the stage manager and crew told us what to expect and when to laugh, clap and woo (yes woo like a woo girl) Then Jay Leno came out decked out in full denim to get to know the crowd and got photos. Jay told the floor staff when he comes out to walk up to the stage to give him a hi-5 for the recording. We ended up on the in intro with my big head and hand in the picture and when sitting down. The show overall was good and a good experience.

When the show finished we headed back to downtown LA to check into the hotel and smashed a feed at papi's pizza. This pizza place is the bomb! it was made from one of this old school pizza ovens and the ingredients were fresh! on the way to the place there were a lot of clothing pop up stores and can smell the weed in the air walking past an art exhibition.

Basically comatosed after the pizza it was arguably the best pizza i have ever had.

gotta prepare for coachella now until then take care!
